Pivunio
A group expense splitter that stays out of the way
One group, one list of expenses, balances that are always current. Pivunio replaces the shared spreadsheet and the screenshots with a single place everyone can open.
- 👥
Create the group and invite
A name, a currency, an invite link to send. People join by typing their first name — nothing else.
- 🧾
Add expenses as they happen
Amount, payer, who was involved, how it should be split. Everyone enters their own from their phone.
- ⚖️
Watch the balances
Each person's balance recalculates immediately: what they paid minus what they owe.
- ✅
Settle up and archive
Pivunio proposes the transfers. Tick them off once they are done, then archive the group.
A concrete example
Four friends rent a cottage. Sofia pays a 210.40 deposit, Karim the 96.10 balance, Hugo 48.00 of tourist tax, and Élise nothing upfront. The real total is 354.50, giving each person a share of 88.63 or 88.62 depending on where the leftover cent lands.
| Person | Paid | Fair share | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sofia | 210.40 | 88.63 | +121.77 |
| Karim | 96.10 | 88.63 | +7.47 |
| Élise | 0.00 | 88.62 | −88.62 |
| Hugo | 48.00 | 88.62 | −40.62 |
Suggested transfers: Élise → Sofia 88.62, Hugo → Sofia 33.15, Hugo → Karim 7.47. Three payments are enough, and the balances add up to exactly zero.
What Pivunio spares you
A shared spreadsheet works as long as one person owns it. The moment three people edit it from their phones, formulas break, rows get duplicated and nobody dares touch anything. Screenshots posted in the group chat have the same flaw: they do not recalculate.
Pivunio keeps a single source of truth that every participant can open, so nobody has to redo the arithmetic on the last evening.
The splits you can use
Equal shares for the everyday case. Custom amounts when everyone ordered something different. Percentages when the rule was agreed in advance. Weights when a child counts as half a share. And for every expense you pick exactly who was involved, so people who were not there stay at zero.
Frequently asked questions
Does everyone need an account?
No. Whoever creates the group shares an invite link; the others open it, type their first name and they are in. Adding an email address is optional and only serves to find your groups again on another device.
Does everything have to be split equally?
No. Each expense can be divided equally, by exact custom amounts, by percentages or by weights, and you choose who was involved in each one.
What happens when the group is over?
You record the repayments as they happen, then archive the group. It stays readable with its full history, but nobody can change it by accident.
Is it free?
Yes. Creating a group, inviting people, adding expenses, computing balances and recording repayments are free and will stay that way: they are what a group needs to settle up properly.
