Pivunio
An expense splitting app built for roommates
A shared flat is not a holiday: the accounts never stop. Pivunio keeps track of rent, bills and groceries, month after month.
- 🏠
One group for the flat
Permanently open, with every roommate in it. No need to recreate anything each month.
- 🧾
Everyone logs what they front
Whoever does the shopping, whoever pays the internet, whoever replaced the vacuum cleaner. Recorded as it happens.
- 🔁
A monthly check-in
Look at the balances, follow the payment plan, mark the transfers as done. Five minutes is enough.
Rent by bedroom size
Three bedrooms of 16, 12 and 10 m², 24 m² of shared space, 1,200 of rent. Splitting the private portion in proportion to floor area and the shared portion equally gives:
| Bedroom | Size | Monthly rent |
|---|---|---|
| Room A | 16 m² | 464.51 |
| Room B | 12 m² | 387.10 |
| Room C | 10 m² | 348.39 |
Exact total: 1,200.00. The private pot is 735.48 (38 m² of bedrooms out of 62 m²) and the shared pot 464.52, divided into three equal parts.
Bills that should not be split identically
An electricity bill covering a month where someone was away for three weeks does not call for an equal split; prorating by days present handles it cleanly. The internet subscription, on the other hand, can stay equal: it is available whether you are home or not.
What stays free
Everything a flatshare needs to keep its accounts: unlimited roommates, unlimited expenses, custom splits, balances and recorded repayments. No roommate ever has to pay to join the group or look at the accounts.
Frequently asked questions
Do we start over every month?
No. The household group stays open permanently. You settle whenever you like — monthly, for example — and the full history remains available.
How do we handle a new roommate?
Add them to the group and they only take part in expenses recorded from their arrival onwards. Earlier history is untouched, so already-settled balances stay correct.
What if rent is not split equally?
Use custom amounts or percentages, or work out the key by bedroom size with the dedicated calculator, then enter those amounts as the monthly rent expense.
Can couples be included?
Yes, in two ways: each partner as their own participant, or the couple as a single participant who settles between themselves. The first option is clearer when everyone pays separately.
